Our Power Supply Solutions
Viable Power has extensive knowledge and experience in designing custom power supply solutions for a wide range of military and industrial customers. Since 1995 we have been serving our customers by designing, manufacturing and then supporting the products throughout their lifecycle.
CUSTOM POWER SUPPLIES
AC-DC power supplies from Viable Power are designed to meet the input requirements of MIL-STD-704 or
RTCA DO-160 for airborne, MIL-STD-1399 for shipboard or any other requirement for any application. Our AC-DC power supplies use custom or standard EMI filters, rectifiers, and power factor correction units with high voltage input DC-DC modules from renowned manufacturers. Power levels can range from <20W to multi KW units. Each can be designed to meet a specific form factor and environmental requirements.
DC-DC power supplies from Viable Power are designed to meet the input requirements of MIL-STD-704 or
RTCA DO-160 for airborne, MIL-STD-1275 for ground vehicles or any other requirement for any application. Our DC-DC power supplies use custom or standard EMI filters, and custom linear or standard DC-DC power modules from renowned manufacturers. Power levels can range from 5W to more than 2KW. Each can be designed to meet a specific form factor and environmental requirements.
Viable Power can design all manner of power system accessories to the specific requirements of any customer. Such accessories include single channel solid state DC relays in DIN rail mountable packages, multi-channel, high current relays, timed relays, multi output switched AC or DC power distribution/control units. Products can be RoHS and CB certified per requirements. These products can be 19” rack mount or in any other form factor as required. The products are typically for ground-based industrial applications.
Building Compliant & Highly Reliable Power Supplies
Viable Power designs custom power supplies to meet MIL-STD-704 and RTCA DO-160 for airborne applications, MIL-STD-1399 for shipboard applications and MIL-STD-1275 ground vehicle applications. Each design has a detailed compliance matrix created to ensure each requirement is addressed. The products undergo stringent testing to qualify the design against the requirements.
Other aspects of performance may be analyzed in order to assure the design complies with the requirements, this might include temperature/altitude, salt fog, explosive atmosphere, fungus, sand and dust etc.
Our testing may include some or all of the following:
- Temperature (storage and operation)
Vibration (functional, non-functional)
- Shock (bench handling, functional, non-functional, crash safety)
Humidity, water tightness
The products are packaged in accordance with customer requirements, such as six-sided metal-enclosed, cold plate chassis mount, external fins for natural or forced air convection cooling, internal forced air convection cooling, DIN rail mount, VMEbus card slide mount, slot mount with wedgelocks, 19” rack mount in 1U, 2U, 3U heights or more or any other form factor or mounting method that is specific to the application.
All our products are designed with high reliability in mind. We use military specification components wherever possible and derate them to improve reliability. Viable is also experienced in the design of redundant supplies with hot swap capabilities to ensure that the load is continually serviced in the event of a malfunction.
All products are manufactured to IPC-J-STD-001 Class 3 and inspected to IPC-A-610 Class 3 whether for a military or industrial customer. They all undergo full acceptance testing including environmental stress screening with vibration and/or temperature cycling. Each of our products is supplied with a certificate of conformance and is backed by a warranty and ongoing lifetime support from Viable Power.
